Water Quality

The quality and quantity of water extracted as part of natural gas production varies depending on the geology of the area. In many areas, the mineral composition of this water is no different from the bore water extracted from some aquifers and used by landholders for irrigation or stock watering.

For example, water from Santos GLNG’s gas fields in Roma typically contains between 1,500 – 5,500 parts per million (ppm) of total dissolved solids. The table below gives you an idea of how this compares to other water sources.
